A Tearful Sunday

Yesterday, my mom and I attended the burial of my sis-in-law's grandmama. We arrived at around 8:30 at St. Peter (located at Quezon Ave.) . The mass has already started. We didn't bother to go inside as there are many people already. I just played with my nephew outside. The mass ended and I could hear sniffing and crying sounds inside...it must be the final viewing and blessing already I thought. After a few minutes more, people started to come out and board their vehicles... We did the same... It's a good thing a good samaritan handed us her spare 'St. Peter' sticker for the convoy.

Then, the music started playing. It was a very long convoy...we situated our car in the end to make way for relatives and friends of the departed... She was a public school teacher...no wonder there were lots of flowers and people.

It's my first time to be in La Loma Cemetery... upon entering, my first impression is that it's far off from what I usually see on television during All Soul's Day. It's clean and quiet (of course! LOL). Her resting place is somewhere in the middle. The weather was very cooperative, no sun, no rain and not hot at all. A violin instrumental of Ngayon at Kailanman was softly playing in the background. After the final prayer has been said, the family gathered around to look at her and say their last goodbyes. There was an outpour of emotions that morning and I, although I haven't really known or encountered grandmama personally during family gatherings, also shed some tears in the process...

On the way home, I said to myself, "She lived a good life... dedicating herself on educating other people while showering her family all the love and affection." May her soul rest in peace.
