More on Camotes

On my post regarding the first day, I think I mentioned entering the wrong resort. Although we got it wrong at first, at least we were able to enjoy the rest of the afternoon snoozing on colorful beanbags under a nipa umbrella.

Late in the afternoon while on our way back to our room, we passed by the entrance of our 'real' hotel. We inquired and were informed that the Mangodlong Paradise Beach Resort is different from Mangodlong Rock Resort... of course they are different, pero 'Paradise' should have invested in a bigger signage for their lobby entrance. The 'Rock' has a very big fish and a huge painted sign.

Out of curiosity, we checked the rooms and after seeing them, we decided to check out at the expense of the payment we already made to the 'Rock' (P1,700). What can we do? It's non-refundable..... and really, one couldn't just say no to 'Paradise's' rooms.

The room we occupied costs P2,500... beach front, double occupancy, with h/c shower, flatscreen tv, minibar, coffee/tea making facilities. The bed is so soft and cozy.... too bad I wasn't able to enjoy sleeping that night because I still have a terrible cough back then.

The next time that I'll be in Cebu, I'll definitely go back to Camotes Island. It's nearer than Malapascua (which requires a 4-hour bus ride to Maya Port and a 30-minute boat ride to the island ---- more of this on another post), has a nicer beach than the ones in Mactan Island and clean and quiet.

Camotes Island is one of the famous places to go to when in Cebu. To go there, one must ride a cab/multicab/bus for 30-40 minutes going to Danao where you will board a boat/roro (200 aircon/180 non-aircon) going to Consuelo. The boatride will take about 1.5-2 hours. Upon arrival at Consuelo, you'll be greeted by habal-habals (motorcycle rides -- their common mode of transport), multicabs and tricycles. We wanted to be accident-free so we eliminated the motorcycles right away. Good thing, there was a tricycle.

Mang Boy -- the local pastor (at least we were guided to a person of integrity and love of God and not just some scumbag). Everyone knew and respected him. It's an added value for us.

We were told that the best resort in Camotes Island is the Mangodlong Resort (things got a bit confusing because this is NOT the resort we're supposed to go.. more of that in the next post). To make it fair to this resort, they got the better bargain of the rock formations and the location. Everything is sooo photogenic.

I just got my car 2 weeks ago right? Someone wants to borrow it... I don't want to sound selfish really but my heart is opposing to say Yes! to this person. Siguro my mom got the right term for it -- na hindi ko pa kasi napagsawaan yung car. She has been driving for more than 2 decades already. Before I had my own, I've been a regular passenger. I've seen her drive and handle the car -- she's good in driving, a bit reckless sometimes but good. My only comment is that 'medyo hindi siya maingat kasi mabigat ang kamay niya'. I remember she broke (she said that it was brittle already) the switches of the power windows of my brother's car.

I don't want to sound mean but I believe that it's my right to say NO. Allowing it just this ONCE would only make it habitual. I could already imagine myself if it got scratched or damaged -- i would really throw a huge bitch fit. hehehe. yung tipong, magtago ka na.

Next time na lang....

I thought it will be easy but...

You gave me overpriced quotes... to make me feel that I had big discounts.

You didn't give me what I needed on time... the quotes, the receipts.

You gave me false hopes... promises to deliver.

I wanted to trust you, to give you more chance as you are also a newbie but sadly, you always give me reasons to doubt the things that you say... which prompts me to countercheck. Sometimes you're correct but sometimes or most of the time, you're not. When confronted, you give excuses.

I sensed it from the start but I wanted to give you a chance so I soldiered on but now I'm down to the last straw. More than the sales, you could have seen me as someone in need of guidance on some these things... and not some cash cow you could milk.

I love the car... I really do... pero hanggang car na lang talaga.

When I first saw this in the internet, my heart jumped for joy -- the look, specs and most of all, the price, are the things that I've been looking for. When my brother learned of my planned purchase, he called me at 5AM just to tell me not to push through with it... and that he's willing to give the additional funds if budget considerations are my only concern. I cried (weird)... hahaha.. and felt depressed afterwards....

Then the opportunity to see the actual unit came.... It's so nice to see it in person. It's so cool and Leej fits in perfectly (siya kasi batayan ko sa legroom).

I also went to the Alabang showroom and was able to atras, abante the unit.... siguro i wasn't able to adjust the seat ng maayos but it's okay. my only problem is in the cambyo.... parang it's matigas. I dunno if it's normal pero it's something that I have to get used to... maybe it will be mas malambot upon frequent usage.

I dunno if I'm that stubborn (baka nga!!!) para hindi makinig sa recommendation ng iba na to go for a Toyota or Honda, the more trusted brands in the field. Siguro a part of me is also wanting to be different from the usual choices that people make. As I've observed, I, most of the time, make unconventional choices and do unconventional things (in a lot of instances). hahaha...

hahaha... it is where my heart is, honestly.... if ever i get lost with my heart's choice, i still have my mind to lead me back. ;)

It's been a while....

Yep. My last entry is dated way back October 2010. I found updating via fb more convenient rather than writing long entries through this blog. Another thing is that blogs are banned in the office network (boooo!!!)...

Anyway, I just graduated on Tuesday. Yey!!! After more than a year of weekend schooling, I (and my classmates) finally made it. I wasn't really planning on studying after those gruesome years studying debit and credit and getting through the board exams. But thanks to my brother and officemates, who managed to convince me that having masters tucked in my belt is a great investment, I said yes.

The next question is... WHAT'S NEXT? I've been contemplating a lot... I've listed a few things like enrolling at A1 for refresher course, buying a second hand car (despite soaring gas prices) and studying Spanish (yes!) for a change at Instituto Cervantes (a friend invited me over). The thought just came in.... I want to create a blog that will feature places I've been and hotels I've stayed at... products that I might have liked/disliked... I know it's not new but it's something good.

Hahaha. It really feels nice when you are able to achieve something for yourself. I just need to have more drive to be in the road that I want to be in and more faith to keep me going.

Hahaha. This afternoon, I signed my updated personal data sheet which is a requirement for the training I'm hoping to be selected to attend. As I read the stuff written about me like educational background/achievements, I can say that I had a well-rounded school life. I forgot how happy I was in my scholastic life especially during high school. I'm smiling right now as I'm writing this because of the sudden flashbacks in my head... memories of how I had the best of both worlds -- academically and the extra-curricular stuff.

If fate agrees, I think I'll find myself in a school environment -- again. I'll just have to finish my remaining months of schooling and then, I'll deal with it. Little by little... step by step... at least I'm moving. Got lolo to thank for that.

Goodbye and Hello

Today, I'm saying goodbye to my Acer Travelmate laptop issued by the office. We've been together at some of my travels. I've learned to endure the pain it's causing my back because of it's weight and size. Anyway, it's old and kinda brittle but still functional for your basic word, excel and internet. It can take a rest indefinitely or be used by another lucky individual.

In the meanwhile, I'm also saying hello to my new HP lappie - newly issued by our Administrative Officer/Property Custodian. It's faster, lighter, looks better. hahaha. But I would still prefer to bring my netbook for out of town engagements.

Need to transfer my files. ;)

I totally agree that this can be developed over time. It is earned after bad falls and certain realizations. Courage takes many forms... it may be as follows:

- taking constructive criticism;
- accepting ones faults; or
- finally 'knowing' the things that you didn't know;

Knowing certain truths can be inevitably depressing but I guess I'm now learning how to handle them better. I used to sulk over these things that I find it hard to move on...Not letting go only gives you heavy baggages... Everywhere you go, you'll always have them.

Learn the lesson, let go of the baggage and move on. Best of all, be happy. ;)

Hahaha... I didn't have this problem before. Now, I have this difficulty of explaining things when faced with a boss/manager... alam mo yun... I know the answer/what actually happened and yet pagkaharap ko, I get tongue-tied and sometimes my mind goes blank... Intimidated? maybe... or siguro I have this fear of saying the wrong things/terminologies that I end up saying a few words na lang which makes matters worse because sometimes I hardly get my point across. My rebuttal speech is left to rot inside my brain.

This is something I should really work on.

I attended and hosted the golden birthday party of my manager last Friday at the clubhouse of Tribeca (condo) in Sucat... Wala lang... I admire his family. They really took the time to prepare and surprise their dad on his golden milestone.

2010 Philippine Orchid Society Orchid Show

I'm very happy to be back at Manila Seedling yesterday to attend my very first orchid show. The topic for the day is something that I really needed - Potting Techniques. The expert, Mr. Andres Golamco, Jr. or Jun for short is the orchid shop owner who sells exotic and imported orchids... not the usuals than you can buy for 1K and below... If I remember it correctly, Leej and I was able to meet him last year during one of our usual strolls in Manila Seedling.

I've learned a lot and also got awakened that what I've done to some of my plants are not exactly the best condition for the orchids. hehehe. oh well, charge to experience as many people would say. I would really love to become part of the Philippine Orchid Society. For only P900, I could gain the knowledge and expertise and 'camaraderie' of the best orchid growers in the country... not to mention participation to fieldtrips to nurseries and farms (yipee!!!)... Unfortunately, I'm on a financial crisis and since I could make myself member anytime, I'd rather spend that fraction of my resources on plant purchases -- the growers are offering big big discounts. I was able to buy 3 cattleyas and 2 fire orchids. I've had enough with the ordinary vanda and dendrobiums. I want a unique collection. hehehe...

Almost forgot to mention... I WON! I WON!!! fertilizer. After the seminar (forgot to get a certificate), there was a raffle. My number was drawn first. Soooo happy.

Orchid Show

The Philippine Orchid Society is having an orchid show starting today, Aug. 13 to Aug. 23. Too bad the free lectures that I wanted are scheduled 2PM (I'm in the office... huhuhu). I wonder if they'll have their lectures recorded on video. So for those who are interested in these topics, just go to the Manila Seedling at 2PM.

Since I have a family obligation (refer to my previous post, I would want to go this weekend (that is if she gets discharged from the hospital) or even next week after office hours. ;)

In the current situation I'm in, it's good to know that God never fails to provide support. I'm relieved.

You see I have a cousin who's confined in the hospital. ER's findings were electrolyte imbalance and low potassium levels by .25 -- this somehow explains why she finds it difficult to find balance... she keeps on falling (literally)... these past few days, she finds it hard to move by herself. Her hands are shaking. I also had her checked by a pulmonologist... she was diagnosed with pneumonia last week. After a week of expensive medication, it seems that she still have this wheezing sound while she breathes. I don't have knowledge of these things really so I really have to depend on what the doctor says... Another thing is that I don't know any doctor whom I could trust to give accurate findings. In short, I was forced to settle on the available roster of specialists in that hospital. I'm not really sure if all the examinations that were administered are necessary. No definite results have been clearly communicated to me yet which is not fair considering the figures that we're given to me on the running balance of the hospital bill.

I just hope that they know what they are doing and that they're not merely making a cash cow out of me and my family.

ACUTE RHINO-SINUSITIS... it's like an inflammation of the nasal passageway. Good thing I had myself checked up by my ENT, Dr. Arvin De Jesus. He showed, through a mini-camera, the visuals of my inner ear, nostrils and throat (cool!!!). He even added that the antibiotic prescription made by our very 'competent' doctors here in the office were a bit off, as confirmed by my RN brother.

Hayyy... I still feel that my ears are stuffed, it's the effect of the inflammation.

Person number 1... you speak as if you know everything. You said 'humbly' that if given the chance to run a Branch, it would be as easy as a breeze because YOU KNOW IT. You exaggerate things that supposed to be not exaggerated at all. Your reactions are way OVER!!! Having reviewed our jobs should have meant that YOU ALREADY UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING!!! In our case, YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING.. Since you can't handle it, then you should have been removed in the hierarchy and let us report directly. It would have saved us time really since the report that we made had been sitting on your desk for a month.

Person number 2... I'm sorry but I'm not totally knowledgeable of the procedures my colleague performed. Rather than say something I'm not sure of, I referred you to her instead.

ME... I know what happened but I'm not equipped with the hard facts regarding it. So next time, I'll do engorge myself with my colleague's findings so I can answer everything in their absence.

Typhoon Basyang...

12:15AM -- I was awakened by loud swooshing sound. Typhoon Basyang is indeed making her presence felt. I started making house rounds to check on the dogs, sockets and my 'sinampay'... baka kasi nalaglag na at hinigaan na ng mga aso...

I stayed in the living room so I can easily hear and check immediately the things that are happening. At our backyard, a huge branch of our mango tree fell. I wasn't able to sleep until past 3AM, when the winds are more silent.

Morning came... and to my surprise, the pythus tree at the front of my house got uprooted. Trees, leaves and other stuff were all over the place. My neighbors are busy cleaning. Me? I'm here in the office hoping for some kind of miracle (like halfday declaration). There's no electricity and our generator could only manage to support laptops and a few lights. Nothing much to do here really. I cleaned my area and put the Baygon Chalk to a test (goodbye roachlings!)

Max's Chicken-All-You-Can

Yep!!! we eventually gave in to the chicken madness. After my class, Leej decided that we should try it since it will only be up to July 15. This promotion is in line with Max's 65th anniversary. We enlisted ourselved at 5:30PM. As early as that, we were already number 17 in the list. We tried our very best to kill time like buy movie tickets for Predator (7:40 showing time), scout through the DVD sale in Astrovision and just stroll around the area. After the gruesome task of waiting (not to mention my aching feet), Leej was called by the receptionist. Good for us, we got a prime spot, the corner couch.

Chicken number 1. He got a leg quarter, I got the breast part. The nice thing about it is that the chicken is hot... It's not the type that has been reheated over and over and then put on sale. Before I could finish number 1, Leej already raised his right hand for his second round. Tip: don't stuff yourself with rice.

Chicken number 2 (for me). I'm still enjoying the chicken experience. I requested for a leg quarter this time. Leej raised his hand for his 3rd. While eating, he told me that his sister's bf had 6 chicken quarters. He plans on beating that. During this time, I could feel the food at my chest level. To relieve myself, I ordered sago't gulaman. A good break.

Chicken number 3 (for me and 4th for Leej). I was staring at the chicken literally. It's a chore to chew and swallow the meat. Some of the pieces, I strategically hid under the pile of bones of chicken 1 & 2. Hahaha.. Obviously, I've reached my critical level already.

In toto, it was a good experience. I highly recommend it to Max's patronizers, chickenatics or to people who would want to enjoy a 'sulit' meal at a decent place. Happiness level is up to chicken number 2 (for me). For P165 you can enjoy all the chicken you want. hahahah... don't eat lunch or merienda -- i think this is what the school kids from the other table did. They have this huge pile of chicken bones in the middle of the table.

Although it's too late already (since I already had the flu last week), I had my flu vaccination last Wednesday... It's Friday already and I still have sipon... As in I'm already asking, "sipon, di ka pa ba mauubos?". I've already used an enormous amount of tissue to rid of the secretions from my nostrils. To make matters worse, my tastebuds' functions are impaired.

Yep!!! I've been sick these past few days and have been on leave for 2 days already. Probably because I got myself rained on last Sunday while tending to my garden. I got the chills afterwards. But I was able to watch the premiere night of ECLIPSE!!! hot hot hot movie. I will buy the dvd when it gets out in the market.

I'm bored. hahahha.. I like my new template. I really love it when it rains.

My mom sent me an email (read it just now), telling me that the eldest doggie of the bunch, Gringo, died this morning. Hindi man lang niya ako inintay makauwi ng Manila. Kaya siguro this morning, I have this feeling of sadness. Tita Vhie didn't even text me about it.

Gringo...

He's a black furry dog with a white sock on one of his paws. He's from my brother's then-gf-now-wife. I remember when my brother brought him home... He was transported using a gigantor bayong. He loves to kiss and lick people. He loves to urinate on all corners or tires he could find. Because he's black, he would sometimes be surrounded by mosquitoes at night -- a situation which prompted me to put katol to drive them away. It's a chore to give him a bath... you sort of have to trick him kasi when he sees a pail with water, he knows already and would eventually run away.

I would surely miss him. Goodbye

This afternoon we had a very nice exit conference except on that one glitch I committed. Glad to say that I didn't let that glitch eat me whole. hehehe... Things are supposed to be finished already... but I must admit I still have one account to balance. I hope I find the missing link tomorrow KASI LAST DAY NA NAMIN DITO BUKAS. Saturday, we'll be back in Manila. I'll be in school and will be reporting twice.

Compared to my previous engagement, I could say that I feel more harassed or pressed for time here. There's no pressure really because the working days here are long. Maybe I feel restless because I have the school thingie in the evenings. Unlike before, I get to enjoy the evening dipping in the pool... no worries.... I can't really blame the 'breaks' we've been getting in the office but it can be considered as one of the factors why we or I for that matter could not maximize the working time there. I dunno...

I just hope I'll make it through Saturday's reporting. The first subject is quite a handful to understand in one sitting. To ensure that I'll be awake all night, I doubled the dose of coffee in my mug and turned off the flat screen (and here I am, blogging... hahhahha).

I should really go back to my homework. ;) dear blog, I promise to update you in Manila. hehehe

Kinda lazy to go to 'BIGBYs' and have baby back ribs for take out so I ordered one in the hotel restaurant, Cafe Olio. The Rib is good... of course instant mashed potatoes are not that promising (I really prefer the one at TGIF) BUT THE BUTTERED VEGGIES!!!! OMG! is so damn salty. Galit ata sa asin yung cook. Butter is salty as it is and adding a gadrizzle of salt will only make things worse. So I called the resto to tell them my ordeal. Of course, they replaced it. Less salty but still salty (tolerable this time)....

Since it's only the first weekend of work here, I decided to send Lolo and Leej in Bacolod for the weekend and boy we had a blast!!! It's nice to pack some people in this big hotel room. There's a slight feeling of sadness upon my return to my temporary 'home'. At least I had the opportunity to spend some good time with them.

She must be thinking na medyo magulo sa Business Audit. She's good and she handles her people very well. They have a system and most of all, standards. She requires quality and good credentials amongst her staff. So kung magaling ka, ipagtatanggol ka nya to the bones. Whereas here, the higher people rely on what they think is 'right' and 'appropriate'. Of course, what is 'right' and 'appropriate' is a subjective thingie.

Yes! I'm leaving for ______ this Sunday and will be back on June 19. I could not disclose the place for lolo's sake. It's a surprise!!! hahahahha!!! I'm starting to realize that I have so many backlogs in terms of pictures of the places I've been through this year. *sigh* maybe when I get settled around the second half of the year that's the time when I'll be able to really sit down and blog about all of them.

I'm being reviewed at the moment. Gosh! She's a tough cookie which I like because one would never go complacent around her. I'm not hoping to impress her really... but I must admit, I feel intimidated. I'm telling myself to not be afraid because fear brings clouds to my brain. Hay... relax!!! I called my Manager regarding some of the changes she made to my report but like yesterday, SHE'S OUT!!! So I'm here alone, facing the Deputy Director. I'm not sure if I'm ready to face whatever storm she's going to bring to the report. RELAX!!! JUST DO IT!!!

What else? I haven't packed my stuff yet or bought anything for my trip. Siguro I should think more about my report for tomorrow's class.

Tomorrow, I'll be flying to Ilocos Norte to witness the marriage of one of my dearest friends in the office and his fiance.... To Vic and Mira, I wish you the best of forever.

I'll be bringing the Leej with me. Another out-of-town wedding. Weeeeeeeeeee!!! Like in Cebu, I also arranged for a rented van to tour us in the city for the sake of the bear. It wouldn't hurt to see Ferdinand Marcos for the second time. hehehe.... All of us will be staying at Playa Tropical. ;)

I just got back from Zamboanga... we had the first flight at 7:05AM. Last weekend, as I stared at the ceiling of my hotel room, I thought geez...ang tagal ko na pala dito.... Now that I'm home, I'm back to my normal life.... no more big swimming pool, hot and cold showers, room service, laundry service, cable tv and etc... I'm back to my usual 'stresses' and concerns which make me wish that I wasn't home....

I just wanna say this..... I hate the fact that I was the one left behind to attend to things that I'm not supposed to be responsible for. I hate it when I'm left with no choice but to accept them. I hate myself for not being able to handle everything, that most of the time, I feel helpless and can't do it on my own. Living alone (without the other 'stuff') should be simple but from where I am situated right now, THERE ARE JUST SO MANY THINGS...

I know that there are greater problems on earth than mine... I don't know.... maybe it's because of the weather also... Dang! it's so hot. and the stress.... syet..... hahahhaha...

I'm here!!! and I can therefore conclude that it's okay to be here. At first, there were difficulties with the reservations and the type of hotels we're staying but since Friday, things got better. One problem --- the Zambo area or should I say Mindanao area is infested with scheduled brownouts. Believe it or not, we go out... at night with the company of the Branch personnel... and at markets during daytime. It's pretty safe as compared to Cotabato where military troops are present left and right.

Day 1-4.... We stayed at Jardin de La Vina... not because we wanted to but it's where our officemates resided for 3 weeks in 2008. Hayyy... The Suite room is not so "suite-y". It's a large room with a receiving area, a queen-sized bed, refrigerator and the other basic facilities. It's so huge.... the problem? blackouts. It's like you're in the middle of something then everything goes black and you have to stay frozen for 5 minutes and wait for the generator to start. Another thing, the TV reception sucks big time.

Day 5.... We got evicted at La Vina because the front desk failed to inform us of the prior reservations made at our rooms. Finding accommodation for Day 5 is quite hard because of so many live-in seminars and conventions being held which makes hotels fully-booked. Fortunately, there is Azenith Royale Hotel.

All rooms are labeled as De Luxe. By the looks of the hotel lobby, we thought that everything is gonna be fine... When we got to our rooms, WHOA! another disappointment. It's like a downgrade. Yup, they have a ref, aircon, cable tv... but the bed and bathroom is not really commendable. We just told ourselves to be a little more patient since we are about to move to a better place the next day....

Next day... we decided to have breakfast.. we ordered a chicken and an egg sandwich coupled with coffee. Expensively priced, my sandwich is like a mayo sandwich with little strands of chicken in it. and the coffee!!!!! separate sachets of Nescafe, Coffeemate and sugar. Hindi man lang brewed.

We waited for 12:00nn and when it came, we hurriedly went downstairs to check out.

Currently.... and so, here we are, at the 'best' hotel that Zamboanga City could offer... Garden Orchid Hotel. Although the establishment is quite old (but there's a new 10-floor wing being constructed), I can say that this is the hotel we are looking for... complete with the amenities (a pool, a restaurant, room service and etc.).

The Front Desk Supervisor was surprised to see our Guest Folios... with eyes wide-open, she said, "hanggang May 1 pa kayo?". Hahaha... I could just imagine them calculating the amount of money that we are going to bring in this hotel.... hahaha... so they'd better serve us well... which is something that they have been consistently doing this past couple of days.

It's freaking hard to be in the middle of transacting parties....

*sigh*

Recently I was tasked to discuss something in behalf of 'A' because apparently 'A' does not want to do the explaining. I did what was instructed. I explained the whole scenario to the 'B'. 'B' only paid attention to that single detail instead of understanding the whole scenario. And so, 'B' confronted 'A'. When I called 'A', he sounded upset because he pointed out that he should have been informed of such details.

So, I called 'C', the source of the details which I discussed. I told him what happened. 'C' said that he informed 'A' of the whole thing and he's asking as to why 'A' is surprised and upset where in fact, he knew of the whole thing. I told 'C' that it would be best if he talks to 'A' to clear things out... that if there's a best person to explain everything, it would be him. End of conversation....

My thoughts?... maybe they could have discussed such among themselves since they'll be confronting each other anyway. I was also thinking, maybe 'A' got upset because I discussed too many details to 'B'... that maybe I should have consulted 'A' as to what to say to 'B'. Maybe 'A' doesn't want to 'B' to know that certain bit. Arghhhhhhhh.... EWAN!!!

I know 'A' is upset, disappointed or whatever ... I didn't mean to emphasize anything or to imply anything. I just presented the whole scenario then proceeded with the details as to how everything happened. It just so happens that 'B' took that one bit of the whole scenario.

I'm thankful for the rare opportunity of being able to get together as a family. Of course saying goodbye is the hard part. I did better this year than last year when my mom first left for US. Kanina, yes, there were tears.. I tried so hard not to cry but when my brother hugged me, I suddenly blurted out, "iiwan nyo nanaman ako"... and then he cried too.

Having dinner at my other brother's apartment somehow helped lighten up the feeling of loneliness (btw, he's also set to go back to Japan next week). Going back to an empty and quiet house resurfaced the sadness that I've been trying to conceal. I'll definitely miss me and brother's late evenings with our respective netbooks.... me and mom sharing the same bed...all of us laughing at random things inside the car...

I know that I'll be able to get out of this feeling and proceed with my usual life...

On the lighter side, I was able to download Zombie Farm for my Iphone and I'm currently hooked. It has this farming concept... I plant, I earn money.... I also plant zombies which will eventually help me invade other farms for more money and brains.

On our last 2 days in Iloilo, we had to transfer to another hotel because the Boyscout of the Philippines had reserved all the rooms at Amigo Terrace Hotel, our home for the past 13 days. Highly recommended by the locals is WESTOWN HOTEL. It's strategically located in the gimik strip (parang eastwood). If you want to check it out, visit http://mo2westownhotel.com.

We occupied the Chalet rooms which is situated just beside the pool. The room's amenities include A/C, hot and cold shower, a huge TV (w/ cable), queen-size bed (oh so comfy!!!), refrigerator and coffee/tea making facilities. All for P2,000 -- no breakfast included.

It's a good hotel especially if your intention is to relax and enjoy the nightlife.

yep! just got back yesterday. boy it's really hot in Manila but it's good to be back home with my mom and my kuyas. We went out today for lunch and had our pictures taken in Trinoma. I'm so happy to see all of us together again. It's a rare occasion indeed.

Exam room entrance...

My name is not on the list. I had to go to their office upstairs. When they saw that my exam date is indeed Feb. 9, they accommodated me as examinee no. 36.

Examination proper

I did focus and try to remember the few points I listed the day before. I was feeling a bit intimidated when I saw people stepping out of the room after 2 hours (it was a 3-hour exam). 30 minutes left, I'm done na and I still had time to review some of my answers.

2 hours after the examination, the announcement came.... "All examinees, please proceed to the examination room for the results." My heart is doing that thud-thud thing again.

Examination room...

People are being called one by one. Tapos the facilitator is handing them an envelope. Only six of us were left when the facilitator said, "the six of you, follow me upstairs." I didn't know what to think or feel although yung katabi ko is already positive that we made it.

Upstairs...

We were congratulated. I'm still in shock but after a few more minutes I was able to absorb what had just happened. I MADE IT!!!... and I got the highest mark. Passing rate is 80%. I got 87.25%. My mom is very happy when she heard of the news.

a flashback came running through my head... I've gone through a lot for this examination... the troubles during registration.... the absence of my name in the list... As I've mentioned in my previous post....if I were an uber sensitive person and would try to read between the lines, I would say that fate is trying to hinder me from taking the exams. I'm very happy that I've conquered them all and even ended up with flying colors.

I stayed in Kalibo from January 10 to 28. Of course, one of the highlights of my stay is the famous Ati-Atihan. This festivity is celebrated from Jan. 15 to 17 but the festive mood usually starts as early as the 11th. Bands from different streets just march on the streets with drums and lyres. The grand parade of the 'ati-atis' that are super groomed and fancy costumed are done on the 16th. Too bad we were in Boracay on that day. Anyway, here are some of the pics.

The Ati-Atihan here is highly celebrated occasion. Starting Tuesday, everybody here has been bringing their own bands and marching down the streets. Quite a lot of noise actually but in a good way.... I wish lolo is here to photograph the event.... probably next year.

We're currently lodged in Beachcombers Inn or Kalibo Hotel as they call it. Clean rooms, hospitable staff... slightly 2 blocks away from where the happenings are so we are guaranteed to have a good night's sleep.

What else???

We'll be parading later to lead the Banker's Association. Wehehhe... I dunno if we'll be putting charcoal on our faces ( i hope not..)

I'm leaving the town on Sunday, January 10 for Kalibo. I'm a bit excited because I'll be going to Bora!!! and it's Ati-Atihan so our trip is very 'exacto' for the festivities.... Gotta shop for some swimwear kahit hindi beach body... I was hoping that the Bear will come but because he wouldn't want to file a leave and due to budget constraints, we opted that it would be best if we reschedule it on another date so that we could plan the time and budget and he won't have to interfere with my work.

In the meanwhile....THEY ARE COMING TO TOWN!!!!

It's a rare moment for all of us to be together so I'll be taking a leave. I'm so excited to see my family -- coming from different corners of the world.

I mentioned it to my Boss this morning. Alam mo yun... parang he's 'threatening' me na, 'Sige, bahala ka maghabol'. So I fired back -- 'That's why I'm telling you early so that you can make the necessary adjustments. If I absent myself without telling you of my plans, then I wholeheartedly claim the responsibility of making habol with my work.' Even if they oppose, I would still take a leave because such event is a rare one. Kelan pa uuwi si Mama and Kuya ng sabay? I'd really grab this opportunity even if it hurts my rating. I know it's risky because this boss has certain unadmirable tendencies to some things but I don't give a damn. My family matters more. hehehe... pasaway....

In addition to my previous post... while I was nahihirapan with the filing for the exams, the idea of foregoing the exams because it's really not needed came into my mind. I would have not gone back because of discouragement and the hardships I'm going through with the pila, the pictures, the time constraint (because I can't be there on the 22nd). If you're gonna analyze and feel the situation, you can conclude na parang it's not meant to be. But after all those odds, I made it. Wala lang... Just a thought na if you want something badly but the odds are against it, you just have to want it more so that you'll surpass the obstacles. Kung wala kang will power, I think you'll just succumb to the negative things that are hindering you from attaining it. Sometimes, you just have to push yourself a little further and not let the things that are happening control you.

My experience at CSC

AY NAKU!!!! -- ito lang ang masasabi ko sa dinanas ko kahapon sa CSC for registration.

DAMN that trike... I paid him the 40 petot tapos sa maling office ako dinala. I was like cursing that driver. My destination is like two blocks away. He's lucky I did not decide on wasting my time to go back for him sa trike terminal.

I arrived 2:30PM for my personal appearance. I was number 70 -- got called only at 5PM only to find out that my picture is invalid (they don't want the computerized type of nametag... they want the 'hand-held' one like that of a criminal). So the administrator told me that she and the cashier would wait for me 'til 6PM. She's even telling me that I don't need to take the examinations because I'm already a CPA... I told her that I'm taking the exam for additional credits.

PICTURE... got it after 15 minutes. It's a small shop but the cost of the picture is a little expensive for 6 pieces.

5:30PM ... I got back. When I went to the admissions area (which is located in the basement area), it's locked already. Good thing there were still some administrators making 'tambay' outside so I went up and asked them. Punta daw ako sa third floor. (Akyat ako..) There she is. Up to the last minute, she's telling me that I don't need to take the exam. Their director even approached me.

EXAM DATE... It was scheduled on January 22... but since I'll be assigned to Kalibo from Jan. 10-28 (I learned of which only 2 days ago -- Bora ! Here I come..), I told them that it wouldn't be possible for me to take the exams on the said date. They (the administrator and the director) had a short meeting and finally decided that I take the Feb. 9 slot. Sabi ni administrator, "o ayan ha... sobra sobra ng pagbibigay yan. If you don't make it on Feb. 9, your slot will be forfeited." Syempre mega thank you naman ako.

PAYMENT... She called the cashier to confirm if they are still there. Andun pa raw. So I went down from the third floor and asked the guard where the cashier is... he directed me to follow the canopy down to the basement. Pagdating ko dun, SHET!! walang tao!!!! I saw a lady reading a newspaper on the other glass window. I even had to throw something sa window to get her attention. Akyat daw ako sa lobby then baba ng basement. When I reached the department, wala na daw receipt. They just gave me a certification that they indeed received such amount.

BALIK OFFICE... Of course after paying, I had to go back to the office sa third floor so they could arrange and finalize my schedule. Third floor... huhuhuhu... Finally, they released my permit.

I finished everything at around 6:30PM. Halfday of walking, running, negotiating.... Tired and really thirsty, I gulped straight up a bottle of minute maid sa MRT.

So grabe the government agencies. You need to be fit to walk from one department to another to process your papers.

From the title itself... I'm actually feeling like a student all over again. I'll be taking an examination (I dunno the exact date) and tomorrow is the registration so I have no choice but to self declare a half day.

I'm feeling a little nervous and jittery (probably because of the coffee). It's been so long since I had a major one which is in October 2003... so that's 6+ years.

Taking examinations and having a masteral degree are not really in my lifetime agenda but due to peer pressure and me just going with the flow of people around my workplace, I signed up.

The masteral thingie.... it's more of reporting and group work... I go to school during Saturdays.... huhuhu... my precious precious Saturdays. This really affected my Christmas preps last year. Anyway, better go through with it and tuck it under my belt while I'm 'young' and single than deal with it when I'm a little bit busier in life like my other colleagues.

Like I mentioned, I wasn't really planning on these things because I don't really see their significance... I don't really see them as stuff that would make me a better person as a whole... my mom and my brother somehow got through me and convinced me that it would be 'wiser' to have those for future purposes.

oh well... I hope I pass... and I do hope to March next year.

Happy New Year!!!

I got the results of my annual medical... hehehe.. I'm above the upper boundary for Uric Acid. I guess I have to tame the meat and the seafoods (that I love!!) and chow on fruits and veggies for the next couple of days and weeks.

Gosh! This is a wake up call for me to go back to the healthy lifestyle. I must admit that I've been reckless regarding my health during 2009. I rarely make an appearance in the gym and still eat and eat and eat.

So this will be a part of my new year's resolution. I should...

Let me start with 4 nights....

4 nights to go, it's Christmas already. It's quite weird because I can't feel it. The only people I shopped gifts for are kids, my inaanaks and Tita Vhie's class and of course Leej's family (the folks I'll be spending Christmas with). Maybe because it's my first Christmas without my family.... We were six back then (dad + mom + 2 bros + me + cousin), then 5 (less dad), then 4 (less bro 1), then 3 (less bro 2), then 2 (just mom and me) and now.... ME. *sigh*

Anyway, at least Leej's family 'adopted' me for the holidays. Still don't know what to bring as food to share. I wanna try making that tiramisu recipe i got from the internet or maybe bake something from the recipes I've tried at culinary school.

to go, it's our 5th anniversary. YeY!!!!! I let him do all the planning. I dunno what's in store yet but he gave me clues such as hindi raw sa greenbelt and hindi daw hotel. I have a gift already, something I got from SM. Dunno if he'll love it but I'm pretty sure he'll use it. heheheh...

Last night, ETC aired for the 3rd time one of my fav movies, Bring It On: All or Nothing so I watched it til 1AM. No wonder I'm super sleepy as of the moment.

Crowne Regency's Edge Coaster and Skywalk Extreme.....

When visiting Cebu, one must not forget these activities.... It's Crowne Regency's famous adventures. Prices are at follows:

Entrance: P380 (comes with a free Skymeal -- for one person only)
Edge Coaster: P500 (good for 2 already)
Skywalk Extreme: P500 (again, good for 2)

It's fun and scary at the same time. Both will award you certificates that you indeed survived them.

The only thing that disappointed us is the cost of the souvenir pictures. Shooting your own pics is not allowed especially in the Skywalk. If you have a third companion, you can have your pics taken at the Edge Coaster. It's just the two of us so we had no choice..... We didn't want one printout alone so we decided to get the whole set in a CD. The price is P550 for 6 pictures on a CD at Edge Coaster..... and a whopping P950 at Skywalk. Their price is not funny. Maybe their management should consider revising that. Anyway, thinking that it will only be like once in a lifetime, we availed both. It's so expensive.

Anyway, we had fun... Leej is scared... hahahaha... I got scared at the glass walkway part because you can see the ground....

Just got from my Cebu adventure yesterday... It was really great. I'll be posting pics as soon as I've loaded everything from my new PNS, Nikon S220 (courtesy of my brother).

We stayed at Waterfront Hotel Lahug (there's another one in Mactan), went to THE tourist spots and more (like the edge coaster and skywalk thingie), had my first try at the Casino and of course, celebrated my friend's wedding (the very reason I went to Cebu).

Can't wait to post everything. hehehehe...

I'm back in the Head Office and the stress level is up.

I need to unload the things that are in my mind......

First is the filing of leave which I already did. I chose to file the five days after the long weekend... so meaning I'll have a very looooooong weekend. hehehe. It's good timing really since I'll be arriving from Cebu on December 1.

Second... in relation to my leave, I'm thinking if I could squeeze maybe 3 to 4 days of roof and house renovation into it. The thing that's giving me the headache here is the budgeting. I guess I'll put this one on number 3.

Thirdly... budgeting... hayyyyyy.... although I really have some money saved for the renovation, the realization just hit me na sabay sabay ang gastos!!!..... I'll be going to Cebu... I'll be sending something to my brother.... I'll have the house renovated.... and Christmas shopping....

And so I went to the advanced screening of New Moon....

OMG!!! I felt like a teenager all over again... drooling over some kinda romantic movie.

and JACOB!!! THE BODY!!! Uber hottie!!! I think they really made him shine and stand out in this movie.... I'm quite disappointed with how Edward looked though (or maybe they did it on purpose to let Jacob's hotness be the center of attention)...

The movie had been almost loyal to the book and almost all of the characters had an upgrade in appearance. Victoria for instance looked really sexy in her red curly hair. (Jacob! oh Jacob! heheh)

Too bad I didn't win the raffle. But I did purchase some nice items like the movie guide (10% off in the national bookstore booth) and a giant poster which came with a free calendar +1. Why plus 1? Because after paying the guy I said, "Can I have another one (calendar)?" and he just gave me. heheehhehh

I think I'll be watching it again. hehehe...

Been busy at work recently that I forgot to update on my blog....

Aside from the Time Traveler's Wife from Leejay and Harry Potter Book 7 from myself, I received another book from Lolo!!!! Dan Brown's THE LOST SYMBOL. He sent it via LBC (many thanks!).... I finished the book actually and i think it really depicted Dan Brown's writing style which is full of suspense... One can never believe that the turn of events only transpired in the span of ten hours. It's a good one. ;)

The Time Traveler's Wife is also a delight. One must stay focused because the story 'time travels' a lot.

Right now, I'm hooked with my birthday present, HP7.... the BANG! to close the other 6 books.

Yesterday, we saw THIS IS IT!!!.... Worth watching... We watched it at ATC. The crowd (especially the ones sitting in front of us) were so enthusiastic that every performance ended up with applause.... At the end of it all, I realized that we've lost the opportunity to witness a highly probable successful concert. 'Sayang' is all I could say....

Right now I can't wait for Nov. 20... Of course NEW MOON!!! me got very hooked with the twilight saga.... hahahhaha.... I actually feel very 'teenager-ish'. Got the soundtrack last week and to my surprise, it comes with a free poster (What a joy!)

Typhoon Santi is really something... I got awaken by the winds at 4:30 AM... Our powerline got hit by a fallen branch from the very old narra tree across the street. Good thing they contacted their electrician and got things repaired immediately.... especially that the MERALCO team will be coming from Dasmarinas pa.

My day went great naman except for the 'achoo' thingies going on with me. Anyway, lots of greetings... thank you very much. Some of them even came from my highschool friends.

I left work on the dot and headed for Shangrila Mall where I desperately tried to catch the 5:10 PM showing of G-force. I ended up arriving at 6:00 PM but I still watched it. It's just about a group of guinea pigs saving the world from machine domination ek ek... Totally kidstuff, I got attracted to it because of my pet. hehehe...

After the .75 movie, I went to buy myself presents -- a bag and a book. I bought a mocha/brown Girbaud bag which is P200 off (yipee!!!) and a Harry Potter book 7 (I don't have one yet... i waited for the softbound one because it's cheaper).

Leej came... with a paperbag the same as mine... except that it contained a huge purple present with a pink ribbon. While seated at our dining choice, Cravings, I opened it.... golly!!! it's a bag and a book!!!. din... hahahha... good thing the bags weren't the same although from the same brand... and the book.... The Time Traveler's Wife (I'm reading it now)...

Just a funny thought... he knew what I wanted... I didn't say anything... a bag and a book... what a coincidence indeed.

It's a great day indeed... although it's the first time that I'm celebrating it without my family members.

I share the wrath of some people about government expenditures on 'hakot barangay' travels, 'golden' meals and the idea of a new presidential jet (which was scrapped recently)... while our disaster brigade here lacks the necessary equipment like rubberboats atbp. and the people have no decent evacuation areas. Have they lost their minds on the true meaning of priority? Hayy naku...

I'm so thankful to God because our area wasn't really that affected by 'Ondoy'. I pray for those who lost their homes and their loved ones... may God give them the strength to withstand this trial.

We survived!!! hahaha... Gawd.. I missed my house, my room, my garden and my pets. I spent the long weekend sitting at the corner of my room sorting and disposing my antique papers... and decorating my scrapbook (kasi ang dami ko ng backlogs).

One thing I didn't miss about Manila is the stress. hahaha... I can't simply concentrate on the job I'm doing because of other stuff (like past projects et al).
So many things to be considered and scheduled... (sigh).... Gone are the days where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at our convenience ... Gone are the days where a shuttle picks and drops us at the hotel (no need to commute/walk).

Siguro masarap na kape lang ang katapat nito.

Gawd I miss home. I miss my pets and my garden. Nothing much to do here at Cotabato really. More than 3 weeks have passed by and our 'adventure' are always limited to going to the fruit stands and the nearest (and only) mall nearby, South Sea.

I've been analyzing my financials lately.... money is really slow-moving... which is good because we really don't spend that much here.

Good thing long weekend pag-uwi. At least I could spend some time at home and with my brother, who'll be coming home on September 15.

Anyway, the City is 'generally peaceful' because it's Ramadan. Thank God for the timing! But really it is peaceful naman here. I suggest that if you don't have those adventure cameras that could survive underwater, get one of those camera pouches. They're available at sportsshops. Also get a waterproof pouch for your cellphones. =)

For Alecs who's asking how much we spent on the whole trip... P13,493. This amount is exclusive of the plane fare but inclusive of the food, lodging and adventure. Of course the price could still go down if you opt to eat at cheaper restaurants. Since the decision to go to Coron came a little bit late (and I don't want to fly via Zestair), the plane fare amounted to P7,848 (P3,924/pax) via PAL Express. Most of the people we conversed with, including my elementary schoolmate, rode Zestair. Their rates are indeed cheaper. If you're going with your special someone, go for a DIY trip. Packaged tours, although offer convenience, can be more expensive as compared to doing it yourself.

The cost of the boat ride depends on your destination. Coron Village Lodge was kind enough to give us the number of a very nice boatman/tourguide named James. You may contact him at this number: 09187033010. He's highly recommended. Promise. It's P1,500 for the Coron Island Tour which is includes trip to the following:

> Siete Pecados - has an entrance fee of P100/pax. Bring bread and you'll surely be surrounded by fish
> Cayangan Lake - has an entrance fee of P200/pax. This would involve a 15-20 minute hike. Good thing we brought our rubbershoes with us. The rocks tend to be slippery because of the mud. But you could also survive on flipflops.
> Caliwantay/Banol Beach - your choice of picnic site for lunch. has a fee of P100/pax.
> Skeleton Wreck - it's a shipwreck. Bring bread also for the fish. There are fascinating corals so it's a good site for snorkeling next to Siete Pecados. Ensure that you put sunblock on your lower back since it's the one who's got all the sun exposure while you're attention is busy underwater.
> Twin Lagoon - no fee. hehehe.... the entrance to this one is quite tricky. It has a small arc that could only be seen on a lowtide. It would be more adventurous if you dive a little to get to the next side.
> Lake Barracuda - P100/pax. It's a rocky 5-minute climb to the other side. Nothing much to see really. It's kinda scary because the water is so deep, you'll start to feel that something is watching you behind the rocks underneath. A good spot for scuba diving.

P2,800 is the rate of the boat for the following destinations; This set is quite far, mga 1.5 hours kaya pricey.

> Calumbuyan Island - P100/pax. It's a good place for a picnic and swimming.
> Lusong Wreck - P25/pax. This one is a cool shipwreck because aside from the fascinating corals that grew on it, it's the only one shallow enough to be touched. hehehe...
> Gunboat - another shipwreck. Nothing fancy. The ship is kinda deep so unless you have a good light, it won't be that clear.

Regarding accommodation: We stayed at Coron Village Lodge... P950/night. No free breakfast and airport transfers (P150/pax/way) for this rate. It's a twin sharing room, airconditioned with hot and cold shower. The people here are nice and the food is great and best of all, it has this 'homey' ambiance. You could inquire at this number 8053414 and ask for Ms. Bec, the owner. She's soooo nice. Grabe! Another good thing about CVL is their location. It's near everything... the town proper, church and stores.

Regarding food and dining: For our day tours, we just order sa Coron Village Lodge. So it's like packed lunch with plates and utensils. They have big servings good for even 3 peeps. During our stay, we dined at Kawayanan Grill and Seadive Resort. We weren't really able to explore the famous restaurants.

About the other question.... regarding Mt. Tapyas Hotel... I also considered this one but unfortunately, they were already fully-booked when I inquired. It has good reviews. I saw a package sa internet. It's for 3D/2N for about P6,500++ per pax inclusive of accommodation and tour.

Warning! Souvenirs don't come cheap. hehehe. Anyway, I hope my post will be of help to people wanting to go to Coron. I would love to go back....

June 12 to 15 -- the bear and I went to Coron for a summer getaway. Yep! 4D/3N. The trip was supposed to be a bear's company outing (at Puerto Princesa) with me tagging along. But due to ficklemindedness of some people on their party, the trip got cancelled. Of course, me, being excited over the whole thing, really got pissed off. My rage brought me planning an exclusive trip... to Coron.

I chose Coron over Puerto Princesa because the place really has a lot to offer in terms of the sites to be visited and the nature it holds. I imagined myself swimming and treking and being under the sun all day.

The Palawan trip was relayed to me when I was still in Dagupan... around last week of March. The cancellation of the whole was communicated in the second week of May. I got really furious when I heard the news. The first thing that came into my mind is the cost of the plane fare (because the later you book, the more expensive it gets). But before I booked plane tickets, I just had to make sure that we have a place to stay first. I researched a lot in the internet... reading countless reviews and looking for good itineraries. I also called Ms. Jereza, our travel agent for the Bohol trip but I find her rates quite expensive as compared to my computations for a DIY trip. The hard part came when I started calling the hotels/resorts... most of them are already fully booked for the long weekend. Luckily, when I called CORON VILLAGE LODGE for the second time, there's an available room. The first time I called them, they were sorta fully booked because of some 'pencil' bookings -- meaning the reservations weren't final yet but I still volunteered to be waitlisted. Extreme joy is what I felt when I finally found a place to stay... and it's cheap too... P950/night. I even got to talk with the owner, Ms. Bec Fernandez, who is kind enough to entertain my questions on where to go. She went against having a package type of trip as it will only be more expensive for us. It would save us more if we DIY the whole thing.

Next is the plane. I checked Cebu Pacific first but the flights for that date were tagged as NO SEATS AVAILABLE. Good thing, PAL's website is already repaired and I got 2 tickets to Busuanga for P3,924/pax. Quite expensive than the promo rates but I took it anyway because as I mentioned earlier, it would only get more expensive with each passing day. Although Zest Air's fares are cheap, I simply don't have the balls to fly with an airline formerly called Asian Spirit...

Finally, the itinerary. This one's the easiest. Since the Lodge also offers packages, I simply copied the whole thing. I made additions of 2 places based on research.

Since the plane, lodging and itinerary were all in place, the bear and I did a little shopping. We bought our own snorkeling gear (w/o the fins) because we don't want to rent. Just imagine how many people have bitten the mouthpiece... and with AH1N1 around.... hehehe... I was contemplating on purchasing an underwater camera but I settled with a digicam pouch (P1,450). Canon D10 is my target because it's water, freeze and shock-proof but it costs P26K++. I also saw Olympus My Water (P16,995) but then again, I settled for the pouch. I also bought original Crocs slippers for the both of us just for the trip... It's really disappointing to see pirated versions selling for cheap prices at chiangge stalls in malls. I even tried to fit one -- but it feels like plastic. One can really say that a person buying a pair of original Crocs is really paying for comfort and quality. For my camera (since I expected a lot of picture takings and videos), aside from the pouch, is a 4GB memory stick which is really sulit (P1,200). Of course the clothes... and food... and etc.

I was asked to inquire something about what I did in my previous engagement. And so I called.... maybe it's my fault because I totally forgot who the concerned persons are... good thing Ms. Sid was 'kind' enough to recall some names for me.

and so I called the right number.... I was struggling hard to remember the schedule I was referring to... then this very NICE lady who answered the phone kept on insisting that I call another local (WHY THE HELL WOULD I CALL THAT LOCAL E SA KANILA KO NGA NAKUHA YUNG SCHEDULE!!!)... that she was BUSY (YEAH RIGHT!!!).... and this time is the most critical hour for them (HOOOOOKWAY)..... blah blah...

She even got my name (I wonder what she'll do with it...) and requested that I call Monday.

Wala lang... I understand that she's busy as of the moment but she has no right to speak to me in that manner. I asked nicely...

Something Fishy

Yesterday, the Bear and I went to Manila Ocean Park. Yeah I know that it's sooooooo last year pa but it's never too late to visit a place as relaxing and educational as this one.

Entrance fee is at P400/head. Although it may not be as engrande as its counterparts abroad, the MOP isn't that bad. It's a place where kids could be amused and be aware of the different water creatures.

After the fish trip, we decided to have lunch at Ozeano, a restaurant by Tamayo's catering. They have this buffet lunch at 600/head. They have a wide array of choices especially at the dessert bar but sad to say that they didn't offer anything extraordinary. Their soup is sinigang (that is spicier than usual). Salad bar -- ok. Japanese (maki & maki look alikes) -- ok. Chinese dimsum -- ok. Grilled squid and fish fillet -- superb! Other viands -- pwede na. Dessert bar -- looks enticing but the taste is so-so... Over-all, the experience is not that bad. At least we got serenaded by a quartet (who were caught by surprise when I actually requested for old songs like Til There Was You and Let It Be by the Beatles and The Nearness of You).

It's a good experience actually and a good subject for photography addicts like someone I know (Lolo... ahem...).

The first time I saw the movie is Holy Wednesday midnight. Finished and LOVED it by 3AM. I've been watching it over and over again since then.

Tuesday came... I wanted the book because I know that movies with book adaptations tend to 'squeeze' everything in 1.5 to 2 hours. I dropped by National bookstore. To my surprise, there's only ONE COPY LEFT... and it's definitely destined for me... was all smiles on my way home.

I finished the book Thursday morning. If given the chance to read it without interruptions, I would have finished it in less than one day. Still on the same day, afternoon.... I was on my way to Boni via bus to have dinner with the bear and guess what's the movie the conductor played 15 minutes after I warmed my seat.... yeah you guessed it right.... still all smiles....

Friday.... I forgot to mention that I also have the e-books... all four... courtesy of my officemate. Since all we did was study, I decided to do otherwise -- I read the second book. was able to finish everything by 4AM while eating noodles at home.

Saturday... Powerbooks is like a glimpse of heaven as my eyes feasted on the pile of the other 3 books I wanted to complete the saga... I BOUGHT ALL THREE.... kaching!!!

This madness is HOT when it came out in the last quarter of 2008. I don't really care if my reactions and giggling smiles are kinda late...

But honestly speaking... if I'll look at it per se, it is really ordinary...the depth of the imagination cannot be compared with Harry Potter or the complex LOTR....it's just a love story between two different beings... a girl torn between two rival species... If this is so, then why I'm I joining the thousands (and could be millions) of ladies drooling and daydreaming over Edward Cullen? hehehe....

Maybe I'm just a sucker for romantic stories and happy endings... where the tough guy finally meets his match... where somebody would do anything on his power just to protect the person he loves... (awww...) It's actually a good break from all the realities of life...

Another thing... aside from the books, I also bought the original DVD (a two disk special with behind the scenes and exclusive interviews) and I downloaded the soundtrack...

One of the things that I did when I was in Dagupan is to shop for ORCHIDS... yes! while my colleague bought around 25, I bought 23 of them... in different colors (according to our suki). They come in really cheap prices (P60-65 for dendros and P95 for vandas) because first, they don't have pots and second, no flowers yet - but with sprouts. I bought a white and pink dendro with flowers and pot and it costs P130 (originally priced at P150... there goes our bargaining skills). I've never seen one before in Tagaytay, where I usually buy plants and flowers.

Tapos, yesterday, we went to Silang to check the land and harvest some bananas... e dumaan kami sa suking plant shop (Three Brothers Garden and Batinos Garden) so again, I bought ORCHIDS... again.. hahahah.... Can't help it. They're such a beauty. Spent 880 petot for Dancing Ladies (yellow), Kagawara Red Vanda and a purple Phaleonopsis.

What else? I also got my Iphone... weeeeeeee!!! Haven't put any sim on it yet but Ive doodled some stuff already. Will show pics of it soon.

On pigs and ebola....

Last night I was watching news regarding the massive depopulation of pigs in Bulacan. Per statistics, 6,000 of them will be stungunned and then burned. Syempre where there are animals involved, the presence of animal rights groups particularly PAWS and PETA is expected to ensure that these creatures are humanely 'killed'... what they're asking for is a quick death so as not to stress the animals.

On one of the interviews, it was mentioned that owners of the pig farms refrained from feeding the pigs since last week tuesday... also, she was hearing a different kind of 'ugong' -- because the pigs were hungry. When the owners were requested to feed the pigs, parang lalo daw silang nagwala kasi alam na nilang papakainin sila. I myself have been to pig farms ... and true to her word, I've seen pigs really shout when they sense that they're going to be fed. Going back.... She also mentioned that witnessing this event is a horrifying one and she'll never forget it for as long as she lives... the sound of screaming pigs... the sight of seeing the live pigs sniffing their dead brothers and sisters... Nakakaawa, nakakalungkot...

*sigh*

Hindi ko pinangarap magkaroon ng farm na may manok, baboy at baka... pwede actually... aalagaan but not to be killed for meal purposes. Which makes me think, okay... chickens -- they could lay eggs... cows -- they give us milk.... but pigs? what about them?

We arrived there on a Sunday... so we heard mass at the famous Our Lady of Penafrancia Basilica...

They have this famous food chain called BIGGS DINER... It's like the Jollibee/Mcdo of Naga. One article said that they attempted to introduce themselves to Manila. The location is good... a busy road... lots of people walking in the vicinity... but what went wrong? According to the manager, the appearance of the restaurant made an impression that it's expensive so they had no choice but to fold... but they're willing to give it another shot sometime in the future.

One week lang e... and with all the work we had to do, we didn't have time to go around... much more, take pictures.... Next time na lang .....

I got back from a one week business trip to Naga this Saturday which is practically the V-day. The bear arrived in the airport with a bunch of yellow roses and pale yellow colored carnations... just the color of flowers I had in mind. We had a sumptuous lunch of shrimp and crabs (we bought from dampa) at home. Grabe talaga yung kain namin... parang wala nang bukas...

Anyway, regarding the Naga trip, it was very short and we had no time to check out the CWC (Camsur Water Complex, famous for the wakeboarding thing). But we were able to hear mass at the Penafrancia Basilica and have this 'palengke' tour -- where we shopped for bicol products and goodies and dried fish. As usual, work all day and night. The only break and 'me' time I had is my 2-hour internet surfing courtesy of the unlimited wi-fi at the hotel's lobby and my new netbook (see previous entry on that).

We stayed at Naga Land Hotel. Its location is good because we're just accross the mall, very close with some of their best restos like BIGGS DINER AND GEEWAN and the market. The place is well-maintained and like what I said, has WIFI!!! Generally, they're okay except for one thing.... yung HEATER.... yung lowest level ng heater, pwede nang pang-kape. Ay naku...

Gardening keeps me sane and preoccupied when I'm home. This hobby started when my colleagues and I bought some orchids on our Davao business trip. Since then, I would go 'ga-ga' over plant shops in Tagaytay. I've been into cultivating plants from seeds... got some sunflowers, tomatoes and chili peppers growing in 'coco-pots'. These are pots made from coconut husk and natural rubber... which are really amazing because I don't have to remove the plant if I plan on transferring it to the ground... I could plant it with the pot.

So.. behold....

Hello Netbook!

Yup! Surprisingly, I bought myself one. My stupidity cost me P19,500 in cold cash. At least I'll have something to use for the rest of the week. This is the cheapest I could find and the one that fits my budget (P20K and below). I must admit that I was tempted to buy an HP mini (P23,950) but I restrained myself because first, it's out of my budget and second, adding a few more bucks would have bought me a full laptop with all the specs. This one, is a netbook that costs like a netbook.

The personnel at Complink was kind enough to assist me with everything. The netbook has a SRP of P22,999. Good thing I have the brochure of the competitor, which is willing to sell the same product for only P19,500 on a cash basis. And so they (Complink) agreed to give me the same price but they said that there will be no freebies. Pero dahil makulit ako, pumayag na din sila. I got a free flashdrive (1GB). And they even installed the usuals.... YM, Skype, Firefox and my preferred antivirus and spysweeper!!!

For this purchase, I'd like to thank the helpful guys at Complink for giving me EVERYTHING that I need.... to Asianic, for giving me that very helpful brochure.... and of course, to LOLO (hello!) for the guidance he provided me and for being available kahit busy siyang mag-ala-carpintero sa kanyang bagong computer table.

Scenario right now...

The house is quiet. I'm alone... The bear is away... I have no load... One person is on chat with me via yahoo messenger...

Nakakalungkot mag-isa. Siguro ngayon lang ito. Gotta keep myself busy lang talaga.

Although I could call overseas (courtesy of Vonage), I can't because my mom is in LA to visit my cousin, Alvin.

I feel crappy....

Siguro things will get better tomorrow. I do hope I'll have all the things I need within this day...
